Do you mean like Harrah's that can't seem stay out of the negative news? Their latest boo-boo involves a man from Nebraska named Watanabe. It seems this guy was such a whale that he had his own class of Total Rewards card. He accounted for 20% of Harrah's Caesars/Rio revenue...back when financial times were good.

You know how markers are treated like paper checks when it comes to enforcing payment? The state is after Watanabe, but they might not get far. Not only did Harrah's intentionally get him drunk, Harrah's/Caesars own employees who handled him some 30 hours per week are saying they never saw him sober and gave him drugs to cloud his mind. I believe the drug was Lortab. Harrah's even went so far as to sign paperwork on changing the terms of the markers where they fall outside the guidlines of a check.

This case only involves about 15 million. But how much will Harrah's spend trying to gain that back, how much will they lose by letting the whale go free, and how much could they lose if criminal charges float?

Back on topic, Stations employees are saying it's not business as usual. Layoffs, cutbacks, and other trimming is going on wildly.

I also see in the LVA that Tahiti Village has gone bankrupt so no more Tanya Roberts radio commercials.

It also seems like Riviera is next of the list to go.

This economy has to take its toll. Unless Obama wants to give everyone a stimulus check That must be spent in a casino? LOL

MGM lost more than 200 million dollars, but I'm sure some their magic source of money will not let them sink.

One article I read last week said the bankrupcy filing did not include the casinos? Apparently its the other business operations that are in trouble but the casinos are making them money. go figure.

Stations might be farming out some of their restaurant space to raise money - there is now a Coco's at Santa Fe Station instead of their coffee shop. The old, dark Sports Book Deli has also been replaced by a shiny Johnny Rockets.

They've been doing that kind of thing for a while, and I don't like it. It seemed like a lot of the old coffee shops had their own special charm.

While Stations is big on nationwide chains, I see Boyd as recognizing it is good business sense with their TGIFriday's and more.

If they are going to contract it out, I'd rather see them follow the Plaza route which is using the Firefly tapas restauant and the Onelete House.

Aliante Station has a TGIFridays, and an Original Pancake House. Green Valley has an OPH. Palace, Red Rock and Santa Fe have a Cabo. Both of the Fiestas and the Wildfire have Dennys. (I miss the coffee shop at the Wildfire.....great hamburgers for 1.99) Sunset has a Hooters. All of the casinos with food courts have chain fast food places. I think it's the wave of the future...less overhead while still collecting rent for that space. By the way, Coco's seem to have shut down thier free standing restaurants, except the one on Tropicana and Koval, in Las Vegas. Their food is better than the Grand Cafe was at the Santa Fe, anyway.
I wish they'd exchange Cocos for the Original Pancake House at Aliante...........except maybe breakfast!! smile
