I don't know if this will make national news, but a tour helicopter on it's way to the Grand Canyon struck some birds and made an emergency landing near the lake on a bike trail by the water treatment plant.

Local news interviewed a park ranger on the phone who said the helicopter hit a goose that went through the windshield and injured the pilot. The pilot was the only one injured.
