   A C Trip
   A C Trip
Well this past week Sharon and I had planned a nice October boat trip Wednesday to Sunday on our boat. But the weather man sain 4 days of rain + high winds, and cold (about 40 degrees), So we opted instead for 2 nights in AC during the week. This marks the first time ever I took time off work for an AC trip. But it beat staying on a cold wet boat.
Arrived Wednesday evening in AC, got a Atrium Suite, at Harrahs, don't get excited, while the room was clean, it was very old. Think old double tree or embassy suites. Wednesday we stayed at Harrahs, to cold and windy to venture out. Found a super times pay machine that was paying out a little. I also found it at the dollar level, but that ate up the profits pretty quickly! Ended up eating some pizza and stromboli from the food court, not great, but it was food. Found one of those machines where it has 4 levels, and each time you win you progress to the next level. Well, I did a amateur move on this one. I slipped a c note in and hit the deal button. That is when I realized I was playing a 5 play machine. That's 25 credit per level, at 4 levels, that was the c note! now here is where it gets interesting, I didn't loose. Actually, I found that playing 5 hands sort of evens it out a bit, and you never really loose all of the wager (most times). Not loosing was actually a bad thing for me, as now I am playing this thing for sometime, with occasionally feeding it a fresh c note. I got off the machine down about $500. Sometimes I am a slow learner! LOL
Hit the hay about 3am, drink service was very spotty tonight, and I'm tired.
Thursday morning was a lazy day, We can hear the rain slapping our bay view window pane. We get out of the room by 11am, just in time for the lunch buffet at Harrahs (YUCK). It was a comp, and it was the only way we would have choose this venue for food. We where not planning a trip to AC, so before we can do much gambling, we got to visit the bank. Do an iphone search to find our bank branch in AC. Drive in the pouring rain. Next stop Ceasars (after all we're out in the slop anyway) This used to be our favorite place, but not anymore. I don't like the crowd, even in the afternoon, too many bums inside the place. I find a machine and begin a slow loosing grind. Sharon drags me over to Ballys. I feel a little better here, at least I see security roaming around. I get on a super times pay machine and really have a good run cashing out over $500, I hated to give that machine up, but Sharon was getting restless, and wanted to move locations. We did, and it was back to my loosing ways. We finally bagged Ballys, and headed back to Harrahs, Here I find a new slot machine that was fun and very kind to me. It's Nickels, but it takes $4 worth max bet. It has some Inca indian name like "Mechu Pucha" I can't remember it now, but I swore I would remember when I walked away from that machine up $330. It's a real slot, with 5 reels, and those liquid crystal screens like on the new Monopoly machines?
Dinner at McCormick & Schmecks in Harrahs. This is my favorite place to eat in AC. Service was great, food perfect.
After dinner we went back to the poker machines! I got beat up on some more super times pay, and then at the end of the night just sat at the machine next to Sharon. Cocktail service was much improved tonight, so we enjoyed a few rum and cokes together. It was coming up on 2am, and we both where tired (AC doesn't give you the adrenaline rush like Vegas) we where ready to call it a night. That's when Sharon hit the Royal. It was quarters, but it was still a welcome sight. She was getting beat up all day. I kept playing and about 15 min later, I got a royal too! Mine was a hand pay and the dreaded W2-G. We orders another round of drinks and called it a night.
Friday, another slow moving, rainy day. Sharon didn't sleep well, she was up with a tummy ache most of the night. We don't know what that was from??? I say it was the buffet, of course! We eat at the cafe this morning, another comp, and a much better start for my day. We both decide to leave AC winners for a change, so we checked out and head to the boat for the weekend.

Because of the rainy weather in Maryland, we spent a good portion of our time in the bars (where it was warm and dry). We played a great deal of Keno (out of boredom mostly) We never had a winning session.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks Lee. I've never had much of a desire to visit AC. You do an excellent job of making sure I don't change my mind.<g> OTOH, you do a great job of having a good time against less than favorable conditions.

Any trip where both make money is good. What did you have at the McCormick and Schmek? Is that a sister of the one here?

Yes, M&S Grill is also part of the McCormick & Schmeck chain too. I've been to the one in Vegas and it is comparable. Although Vegas offers so much more in dinning choices, that one always gets squeezed out! Not to mention, it's a stand alone operation in Vegas.
Harrahs is Harrahs, no matter where it is or what it's called. They are not known for the best gambling odds.
We did discuss flying out to Vegas on short notice, but we have a trip planned for next month, and there just wasn't enough time.
Ac, is AC, it ain't Vegas and anyone who says it's as good is lying to themselves. It's like going to the Jersey shore and saying it's just like being in Hawaii. LOL It's not even close!

Sounds like what we do Lee. Lately when we get the itch we drive to Windsor for an overnighter. It ain't Vegas but fills the void till next time. Congrats on your wins. How long does it take you to drive to AC?
Its about 9 hours for us although the airline my son works for has started flights to AC for $79 one way. Thanks for the mini report.

RUkiding, It's about a 2 hr drive for me if Sharon lets me drive the way I want too. 2 1/2 hr drive if she's paying attention! LOL I don't think I would fly to AC from where you are, better to head West!
