The project to widen I-15 along the tourist corridor is moving along. Northbound lanes will open on Friday and southbound lanes will open in the next few weeks. There will be an express lane for cars that do not wish to take any of the exits along the strip. It will be marked with double white lines and it is against the law to cross a double white line.

There are still construction issues at the railroad overpass (near Spring Mountain Rd), so the project has divided into those lanes north of the UPRR bridge and those south of it. Here is the official notice from the Department of Transportation.

************
On I-15 northbound at I-215 traffic will shift 3 mainline lanes north bound one lane to the right through the November. Motorists are advised to use lane shifts as directed, use caution in the work zone.

Industrial Road is reduced to one lane of travel in each direction under I-15 through November.

Construction issues at the UPRR bridge structure delayed completion of the Project. New completion date to be deterimined.

Rather than inconvenience motorists during the completion of construction of the UPRR bridge structure (between Spring Mountain and Flamingo Roads); we are going to put traffic in the newly completed traffic lanes with the following configuration:

Signage and stripping both North and Southbound will be complete in November.

Southbound

I 15 southbound has four lanes (3 General Purpose and 1 Express Lane) open between Sahara Avenue and just south of Russell Road. The far left lane will be treated as an express lane for through traffic from Sahara Avenue to just south of Russell Road.

I-15 southbound will have three general purpose and two express lanes from just south of the UPRR bridge structure and just south of Russell Road once signage and stripping is complete in November.

Northbound

I-15 northbound will open to 4 lanes (3 General Purpose and 1 Express Lane) from the I-215 to Spring Mountain Road and 5 general purpose lanes north of Spring Mountain Road beginning Friday morning, October 30.
