I saw George Wallace as my freebie show last night. He used to have an opening act of up and coming entertainers around town. This night was all George.

This show was also different as most of it was ad lib. He spent a large portion of the show in the audience talking to people. His stage time was always on the runway. He never sat down at one of his chairs or stood behind his podium.

I like that he can read the audience and go with the flow, instead of a structured routine. That made this show much better than some of his other shows.

As with all of his shows, he has a stooge in the audience that can sing gospel and pretends she is just a random audience member. It's always a good singer. That gig is getting kinda old.

The only other minor negative is that he won't lay off the George Bush jokes. That's old too. And he won't joke about Obama. Most good comedians that are hard core Obama fans can at least find a few things to joke about.

Other than that, he did a pretty good show. The show lasted a full 2 hours. After about 90 minutes, the cleaning crew started showing up and they just took seats in the back and waited, while George kept going and going.

If you haven't ever seen George, his show is almost family friendly. It's a show you could take your parents to. There's no real shocking jokes. And there's no real gut busters either. It reminded me a little of Louie Anderson. Have a good time, have a few good laughs, have a few smiles, and come out feeling better than you went in.
