   Too Much Free Money
   Too Much Free Money
Every month a few of the neighborhood hotels send me notice or coupons offering X.xx amount of free money four or five times each month.

I've been getting so much of this free money that I'm having a difficult time finding the time to use it all.

I get free money from 'M' to play their slot machines.

And free money from The Palms to play their slot macnines.

And coupons from the Silverton that will save me $25,000 if I use them all.

And two for one meals all over town. Even a two for one, $6 burger at Carl Jr's.

Free money, free food, free booz, free shows, and even $500 if I go commando!.

I'm going broke just buying gas to keep up with all this free stuff, but now Terrible's is offering even that! They'll fill up my tank at their expense!

A vicious, never ending cycle of unending free stuff.

Is there method to this madness?

And, can anyone recommend where I can get more of this free stuff?

I'll cancel sleep in an attempt to use it all.

That is a problem. It's pretty interesting reading the mail in this town. Even the e-mails are packed with free drinks and food.

A few years ago, I spent a long time trying to figure out how to organize this stuff so that I could use it before it expired. Sorting by date doesn't work, so I sorted by date in 3 catagories called gamble, food, and gifts. Then I broke that down geographically to hit multiple stops in one trip. Even now, I avoid the construction zones between Flamingo and Trop when I can. I call that area "Coney Island" because of the construction cones.

I guess I'm too stupid or lazy to make a system work for me. Today, I just clip out what REALLY interests me and I put it in a pile. Periodically, I clean out the pile from expired offers.

Having a Las Vegas address has it's advantages and stress. I have 3 nights at the Hard Rock I need to use or lose by the end of the month.

Those freebies can get expensive. That's really the tough part, but it doesn't make a good story.

Yesterday I used one of way too many $10 free bet coupons and won, so I went to a blackjack table with another $10 slip of paper and won that one too.

So feeling a little bit guilty, I decided to lose $5 in a nickel Poker slot machine and within ten minutes I hit a Royal Flush!

Feeling totally guilty now, I took those winnings to a Kitty Glitter machine and hit another winning streak with blinking kitties all over that screen.

Now I'm really feeling guilty about all these free winnings so i stuff another fiver (and my Player's card) into some colorful machine filled with Lady-Bugs, but to my embarassment one again, that one pays off with loud Lady-Bug music that caused a dancing fevor up and down that aisle.

I ended up leaving with one very fat wallet - but tomorrow the buffet is only $5 for one and all! But I got a "free buffet" coupon!

And you know what that could mean!

Never did get to that $5 buffet deal at the Silverton but I did manage to take advantage of my $3 free-play at The Palms and while I was there I stood in a long line to see was at the end of that long line and they gave some kind of 12 in 1 screwdriver set with flashlights on both ends and some unknown apparatus sticking out from the sides.

And then I stood in another line and someone who works for the casino handed me a brand new crisp $5 bill to do anything I wanted to do with it.

ANd only then did I use my $3 free-play in one of the machines and ran it up to $15 (approximately) and then took some time to wander around the casino finding a $5 BJ table (there is one midweek only) and built that up to $50 and then walked away to get a hot-fudge sundae.

SO it wasn't a bad day in the casino business for me at least.

Just this afternoon we went back to the Palms only to find another long line with me at the end of it once again and when I got to the front of that long (5 minute wait) line some guy who works for the casino handed me another neat, new, crisp $5 bill with no strings attached ... so I stuck it in my wallet and removed my Palms Player's Card to see if I had any free-play on it and sure enuff, I had $3 free money to play with in any slot machine on the floor.

ANd I built that up to $7 within a couple of minutes and eventually departed with a grand total of $7.

So today's free-money profit totaled out to $12.

Not bad for having fun!

I think I have a free $10 coupon for tomorrow at the Silverton and $5 in free play at the "M".

Another 30 miles of travel time.

I guess I am kinda spoiled here on the east coast, they tend to bribe us to Atlantic City with larger sums of cash. But then with PA casinos opening up, they are loosing market share, so that might all change too!

Sorry about that, Lee!

But here in Vegas I am still getting free money, not only in the mail but now all you have to do is stand in line for a couple of minutes and someone hands you a brand new crisp ten dollar bill every couple of days with no obligation to spend it in the casino.

PLUS a screwdriver set and another screwdriver set and a T-shirt and a very high quality pull over for the upcoming cold weather, plus bottles of wine, and a McDonalds kind of coffee expresso drink and even two for one Yougurt, and way too much other stuff to even remember precisely.

Tonite I have to go to the M to play my weekly free money in their slot machines and then stop off at the Silverton to place there free money($10) on "red".

Then tomorrow I go back to the M again to repeat the process as per their invite.

Crazy town this is!

5 October, 2009 ...... We're still receiving lots of free money from the casinos. Plus lots of free stuff ..... A wind breaker with casino logo from the Palms, but I got there too late and had to accept one two sizes too small so it will be under someone's Christmas tree this year, $10 free play from the Silverton because the new warm pullovers did not arrive in time, a free train travel bag with various stuff inside (coming up next Saturday), another screwdriver set, a complete set of storage cannisters, a five dollar card for anything that costs $5 at any 7/11 outlet (Do they got gas?), a George Foreman Grill (the small sized one), and various other 'stuffs'.

In addition to all this stuff we get free play from The Palms, The Silverton, and the 'M' which keeps us busy enough to have to turn down any other free money and free stuff from all the other generous casinos offering free money and even more free stuff.

Plus you gotta realize that we spend lots of time just driving family members and friends all over town to sign up for all this free stuff so that they can get free stuff the following free stuff month.

BTW, you gotta have a local address to get this free stuff because it all comes to you via the local mailbox just outside your front door once a month at the end of each month and no sooner.

Do any other locals have 'Top This' stories!? Better stuff??? More free money? I'd be amazed if I was missing out on better free stuff!

Will, are you going to be at the Annual Thanksgiving Meet this year? It might be a good topic of discussion, and I think May Schmiedel might show up.

The way I see it, this is a town of excess. All guilty and innocent pleasures are served. Some see this town as a place of excessive adult pleasure that they cannot get anywhere else and take advantage of that. Some see it as a land of gastronomical abomination and push those limits. Some see this as a town where they can indulge in alcoholic beverages like no other town they've been too.

For me, I use competition and excess to my advantage when I can. If I want a free item or cash, my mailbox is full of that stuff and I can select the one I want. If I want to eat, the choices are so wide that I can select the cuisine, price range, and quality that suits my desire. If I want to see a show, the excess and competition cause me to have offers to suit my mood.

I love your enthusiasm and applaud you for getting the most out of those offers. I still have too much free stuff on my kitchen table, and I'm not driving anywhere for $5 or $10. I don't have a Prius, I don't have the will power to just take the offer and leave, I don't have the patience to stand in line, and I don't have the planning skills to work these trips into my day of other activities. I do get the offers though. I do enjoy reading your trip reports to claim those freebies.

Sorry, JMT, but we're usually on the West Coast with family for TG celebrations. My nephew usually invites all his true Indian acquaintances each year and we each wear appropriate hats and headgear and celebrate accordingly.

The kids call it the UNHAPPY BIRD DAY because one of them used to raise turkeys for a living.

Still getting free money.

Yesterday I took the $10 coupon to the Silverton and used it at the Blackjack table and won!

So I took that profit and threw $5 in one of my favorite slot machines and lost it after about 40 minutes of play.

Still got about $40 worth of more 'coupons' from the Silverton so I give them most of my business (along with the Palms and M of course!)

Note to all: The Twin Creeks (Silverton) is still offering the 2 fer 1 entree and it was packed last nite (Friday, 6:30 pm). Sure looks nice inside that place!

If you plan a dinner there it may be best to call them for a reservation at (702) 941-8595 and ask if you need a Player's Club Card)and which one) to take advantage of that too-fer.

Today is a Big Sale of Wynn stuff at the Encore or the Wynn.dot. I'm gonna try to check it out. Will let you know how that goes.

So you played Blackjack? I didn't know the Silverton had 3-2 BJ.

Yes, the new Twin Creeks is a fine steakhouse. It doesn't rank up with the top tier joints on the strip though. I consider it a great place for a locals fancy night out. They are big on decor and presentation.

Yep, they do, JMT. I think it's only the single deck games that offer even money (which is bad enough). I don't play there much for that reason but they still send me free money each month.

And thanks for your Twin Creek input, Hope to give it a try before the Christmas Holidays.

Regarding the Wynn Stuff Sale......

First I was amazed by the size of that convention area. I'm at the Wynn at least twice a week but have never been past Alex (the restaurant) and into the convention area. I have to admit that it was huge and very impressive.

The Sale was at the very end of that long hallway and roped off to accomodate a line of folks waiting to get inside one of the Ballrooms (Lefite Ballroom, I believe) where the sale was being conducted.

A twenty minute wait brought me entry into this huge room with many tables set up in an orderly fashion and many rows of cloths racks filled with every kind of expensive men's and women's clothing that could not be sold in today's economy (I guess).

The tables got the most interest and were full of Wynn Golf shirts ($8 - 15$), Lamborghini, etc. key chains (originally $179 but now reduced to $20), stirling silver business card holders - (now only $20), knives, folks and spoons of various quality and prices, serving dishes, salad bowls, wine and highball glassware ($1 each), and lots of other fancy stuff you might have seen for sale in those Wynn.dot shops that you often wondered who the heck would ever buy at such outlandish prices!

The puppet show that used to be the big event at the Wynn.dot was equally represented by posters ($1) and magnets (50 cents) and other promotional pariphenalia that was almost offered for free and more than likely was on the last day of the 'sale'. (That was Sunday, and I didn't attend.)

Most of the clothing on the racks was high end stuff for ladies at very discounted prices. The men's jackets that were on display reminded me of something that PeeWee Herman would want to ware. (I failed to check out the clothing prices).

There was an extra long table filled with a mound of women's very expensive Levi type pants now offered very 'cheaply' but I failed to get close enough to investigate.

And at the very back of that big Lefite Ballroom were rows and rows of framed mirrors that were just about the exact same size an your home front door entryway (a definite bargain at $25 each) but due to their size weight and the diffiulty to get them home, no one seemed to show much interest.

And some very impressive looking furniture .... very fancy chairs and bar-stools at $25 each.

And various and assundry other Wynn.dot stuff.

The check-out line was long and busy so it looked like Mr. Wynn had a successful day.... probably made more here than in the relatively empty casino outside.

I am still (and always will be) very impressed by the Wynn.dot and the Encore and the professional manner in which it is organized, managed, and ......

Nothing in LV even comes close as far as I am concerned. Everything is done in a first class manner.

BTW, there is a major construction project underway at the Encore. They apparently tore down the Encore/Las Vegas Blvd entry and are in the process of rebuilding it with something new and unusual.

But what "IT" is gonna be is a big mystery at present. Some say it will be a new pool or a new fountain or some unknown thing of beauty to compliment the building. But it someone does know exactly what it's gonna be, he ain't tell'en yet.

New thought: Most of you know that there are two Encore entrances off the side of the Strip so this former LVB entryway was not necessary and will be rebuilt into something more useful and more impressive.

The two remaining entrances are interesting because one entrance is for the Suite Guests only and is a bit more 'classy', while the second entrance is for the 'little people' which is also pretty darn impressive even for the 'common folk'.

And another 'Wynn thing' of interest is the "batcave" which leads from the parking structure onto ......

BUT WAIT!!!! .... Part of the fun when you visit the Encore is finding all this stuff on your own .... So where the Bat-Cave leads will be part of your next Wynn.dot/Encore venture if you so choose to search for it.

Will you find it??? Where will it take you?!

And who the heck came up with this great idea anyway?
