The new section of the Golden Nugget on Fremont St. opened this past weekend and it looks very impressive.
They built a semi private street leading to the back of what most of us know as the Golden Nugget. That street is lined with impressive looking palm trees and turns into the valet/entrance of the new part of the GN hotel.
It has its own name but I can't recall it for the life of me and I'm just too darn lazy to check it out on the internet tonite.
Drive down that Palm lined road, give your car to the valet attendant and enter into the quite small but very impressive GN Hotel reception area.
Immediately to your front is the check in desk with a lobby bar to the rear and then a very large aquarium full of tropical fish beyond with a Chart House bar and restaurant surrounding it. I forecast that this new but quite small bar is going to be very popular for meet and greet purposes along with a handful of blended martinis.
Directly overhead is a very impressive crystal "chandelier" that weaves itself onward and outward towards the small casino area to the right Each of those crystals was hung individually which you won't appreciate until you see it for yourself with your very own eyes.
I've seen many crystal chandeliers in my life time but none have been more impressive.
It's all much more impressive than I've been describing here so you're gonna have to stop by and see it for yourself.
It's definitely worth the trip downtown.
And while you're there make sure you check out the GN pool area with the shark tank and twisting slide though the aquarium while the six foot sharks watch to see if you really are much swifter than they are.
They have done a lot to this downtown hotel/casino lately and you should include it on your "Places to See" list the next time that you're in town.
I took pictures so I'll be posting them on this site as soon as I can find out how to do it again. It is pretty darn smart so I should be able to git it dun in a week or so.
