Lee...You guessed right out of the 17,827 half-marathon participants I finished 9768. You can view my results at this link http://results.active.com/pages/oneResult.jsp?pID=71129634&rsID=88303And the blood sugars are doing great, I had another follow up with my doctor Friday before the race and my lab results came back with the best levels since I was diagnosed. I was glad because I needed to load up on carbs two days before the event, That gave me a little extra cushion to eat more of the carbs I have been avoiding, like pizza and sushi. GT...it was in fact a cold one, thank goodness for body heat. Standing in a crowd of 27,000 had it's advantages. A lot of runners wore warm clothes over their running attire and during the first 2-3 miles of running they stripped those clothes off and just toss them on the road. Since I started at the very back of the pack I spent the first 3 miles of my run dodging clothes and slow pokes before I finally got in the clear to lock in my internal cruise control for the rest of the 10.1 miles I had to go. It was quite an interesting event, I'm looking forward to doing it again next year. BTW...I'm going to go to Phoenix Jan 17th to run again in that Rock & Roll marathon series. Looks like I'll be training over the holidays...that'll keep the waistline from expanding. JMT...It was a huge success, probably a little too huge. They already posted the entry fee for next years (2010) event and it was bumped up fifty bucks over this year. This year early registration fee was $85, I just checked the website and they set the starting fee at $135 for next year. In 2008 they only 12,000 participants, they more than doubled that this year with over 27,000.
