   Kudos To Sahara Buffet
   Kudos To Sahara Buffet
I don't like buffets. I've never liked the Sahara buffet on the 3 times I've tried it in my life. But I'm gonna try it again the next time I see the Rat Pack show.

Of my long list of buffet complaints, one that always starts the meal off on the wrong foot is the number of people you have to go through to get seated. I pay one lady for the meal, another lady has to use a radio to contact another hostess then points me to her, then I have to walk over to her to show me my table or get handed off again to be seated.

Rumor has it that the Sahara has been revised to just give you a card where one side says reserved and the other side says finished. You have to decide on your own, where you want to sit.

Getting rid of 15 extra employees to point me to my seat might not be good for unemployment, but it might be good for the food budget. Besides those people don't many skills if their best job is pointing me to an empty table. I feel my own personal talents allow me to pick a table where I want to sit.

So if there aren't any homeless people gathering around the buffet, I'm willing to eat there just because they give me enough credit for being able to find an empty table.

WOW, The buffet at the Sahara. No thanks, I'll pass!
I do commend them for trying a new take on the old buffet seating thing, but it's gonna take more then self seating to save that buffet. As far as buffets go, it's pretty close to the bottom of my list, only beaten out as the worst by CC, X, IP.
Refresh my memory, was it the Sahara or the Hacienda that offered unlimited wine with the meal? Thats one way to make the buffet better, get me drunk first! LOL

My expectations will be VERY LOW. Every time that I try a buffet, they all seem to rank closer together. Yep, I don't think anyone rates the Sahara buffet anywhere near average. I do have an urge to vote for appreciation of their seating system.

I'll probably do a walk thru and look for cleanliness, salads, and enough stuff to try at least one bite of to make a meal.

BTW, a few years ago, the Sahara had a couple of vending machines outside the buffet to pay for your buffet and not wait in line for a person to ring you up. That's a step in the right direction, but not didn't solve the seating thing. Those machines are gone now.

That makes it easy. Now I can go on whining about why it takes so many employees to find me a table and wonder how much cheaper the buffet would be if they had self pay kiosks and self seating.

Or maybe I'd just wonder how many people would die of starvation if they were at a buffet and there wasn't someone to point them to an empty table.

I was talking to a reliable contact today that told me they will open the Sahara buffet this Wednesday morning. It seems the current plans call for 4 days of service. In theory it will remain open. Current funds are only for 4 days.
