   Just a curious question
What does everyone think is the best time to visit Vegas?

Then as a follow up, a short reason why?

New Years Eve!

Big crowds with a lot of "interesting" people to in see in the casino and on the strip. But, If you don't like crowds this is the worst time to go.

Spring and/or Fall. We have the BEST weather then.......not too hot, not too chilly. Early Fall and late Spring have pools open, if you like hanging around pools, and there is more of an adult atmosphere, instead of "family friendly". However, if you are bringing your family, then summer and school breaks would be better. If you are a big rodeo fan, or a country western fan, then early December, when the rodeo finals are here, is a great time. There are lots of cute cowboys and cowgirls, and the best country and western entertainment!

I like to go when it's not busy and I really love going the weekend before Thanksgiving. The place is usually dead then.

Then the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are pretty dead too.

Of course, I also go the week before Labor Day when it's 900 degrees and it's also not that busy, except by the pool!

ASAP 24/7 because Las Vegas as a lifestyle is a move you will never regret. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

As many of you know here I always went on vacation to Las vegas during holiday weeks. My situation has changed somewhat, as those 3 day weekends I have other uses for and Sharon gets more days off then before.
I used to always go when the town would be flooded with Californians for those long weekends.
This question was posted for selfish reasons. For the first time in many years I've changed my travel habits. It is now easier to take advantage of cheap flights, and special offers. I am missing my Vegas trip, it's been now 4 months, and I'm itching to go!
I'm currently thinking April, but I want to stay away from Easter, and still get it in before it gets too hot.
To answer my own question, I like the week of Thanksgiving for many reasons. As Mike posted it's dead leading up to Thanksgiving. A good many of my talkvegas friends seem to travel to LV at that time of year, and we do seem to get a lot of good offers.
I also enjoy the extreme heat of summer, and I don't beleive I ever visited in August? And it wouldn't take, a bunch of convincing to visit over Christmas, and get out of town before the new year!

JMT, While housing prices might have dropped a great deal, I just can't swing a move. If you recall, I had gone through a expencive divorce a few years back??? Well, that pretty much sealed the deal, I'll be working till I'm dead, if I want to live a comfortable life.<VBG>

If you gamble, never come to LV over a weekend or during the holidays.

Why?

Because it's too darn crowded and the room rates and table minimums are raised significantly.

And you more than likely will have to wait in line to get a hamburger or a decent meal at the finer establishments.

And traffic sometimes comes to a standstill.

And you can't find a seat to watch Fat Elvis.

Now if you want to sunbathe or enjoy eye-candy at one of our finer sunbathing spots, you'll have to come in April through October.

And here are the pools that you might find most interesting ....

The Hard Rock during the Sunday Recovery functions. Probably the best pool party in town and maybe even throughout the USA.

The weekend pool party at the MGM.

The wave-pool at The Mandalay Bay.

The pool at Caesars.

The pool at the Mirage.

And definitely the two Steve Wynn hotel pools.

And some of the above pools offer topless pools for the ladies.

But if you are a pool fan, make sure you ask if the pool will be open during your stay. Most every pool in town closes down during the cold winter months. Most are usually opened by the end of March.

Other than that .... all is well!
