Early in the evening after the Showbus tour, I went to the Sahara for the RatPack show, then to the Golden Steer for dinner, then to the Riv for their new show DAO.
I had a free ticket to see DAO. The people at the ticket will call pronounced it as "dow". Billed as The Asian Celebration, it is held on the third floor Mardi Gras Showroom. It's a smaller showroom and smaller stage than the Versailles Theater that hosted Splash and ICE. The show opens with some narrative about the earth, the sun, and energy, and feelings. Then it turns into "just another Chinese acrobat show". The music is canned and too loud. The acts are good, but it reminded me of acts that may have been rejected from Cirque or cheaply copied from same. It had tumblers, contortionists, balancing acts, pole climbers, juggler, etc. It also had a good deal of martial arts themed into it. Most of the acrobats had one piece body suits with built in caps like Cirque actors but these were solid in color and no extras. Some gold, some red. No creativity. None of the acts were bad and there was a little comic relief. There was just no wow factor. There was one act where a guy balanced on chairs stacked up. As he stacked on each additional chair, you tell that the chairs were specially built to interlock. I do not recommend this show unless you really want to see Mystere but can't afford it or if you have a free ticket and nothing better to do.
After DAO, I went back home and called it a day.
