I started to do another Strip Report because I spent most of a full day and night on the strip. But a lot of what I did was old news so I'll just lightly touch on it.
I got up early and went to the Miracle Mile. I had a nice breakfast at Pampas Brazilian Grille. This is where you go to a salad bar for bacon, eggs, breads, potatoes, and fruits. Then servers come to your table with meats that are carved table side. I liked the ham and sirloin. There were two kinds of sausage that were okay. The ham guy also had pineapple cooked the same way and was carved like the meats. It was REAL good. It took a couple of laps around the Miracle Mile to walk off the breakfast bloat feeling.
By then, it was time for the first show of the day. It was Showbus Of The Stars. I've seen this old double decker bus before and heard poor audio music coming out. I'm not a fan of impersonators, so this was a tough decision for me, even at the free price that was offered to me. Regular price is $36-46. Right on time, the bus pulls up, the employees are friendly and helpful, and we are seated on the bus. Most everyone sat in the upper deck. Some of the more physically challenged stayed downstairs. The bus looks pretty old on the inside too. It was adequate and clean, but had the normal wear and tear that one would expect from being exposed to the elements for many years. Most of the seat belts were rotted away and not functional. There was corrosion on some of the seat structure parts. As old and worn as the old bus was, I felt safe.
Then Elvis comes up the circular stairway. His real name is Steve Connolly. He has been around for a while and plays a younger, thinner Elvis. He is very personable and not pushy or obnoxious like many Elvi. He would rotate telling a joke, pointing out landmarks, and singing a couple of songs. He moves pretty good, flirts with the ladies, and they seemed to enjoy it. The bus route goes from Harmon, to the strip, past Fremont, left on Ogden, past the new Gold Spike, back across Fremont on Casino Center, then back on LV Blvd. They stop at the tour bus entrance at the Stratosphere for a quick 15 minute break, then back on the strip. The bus then makes a U-turn between the Coke bottle and the new Hard Rock Cafe, then snakes around the Polo Tower to come out on the south side of Miracle Mile on Harmon where we started. The whole trip was about 90 min. I recommend this show as an interesting time killer and great photo op. You get to see some things from a different angle that does make a difference. I also recommend looking for discounts at the usual places. The quality of the experience could easily be swayed by the entertainer selected for a given tour.
After the bus tour, I went to the Peppermill for a burger. It's a good solid burger, with plenty of french fries. It was much like you might expect from the Peppermill.
