As we reach another low point in TalkVegas activity, I thought that I would share a little link that might get your Las Vegas enthusiasm a boost. This is particularly interesting if you have a respect for Las Vegas history. Most locals are familiar with the local TV channel 3, and it's traffic reporter Tom Hawley, who often broadcasts from the Ch 3 helicopter. Every Thursday, Chopper Tom does a segment called "Video Vault" where he takes a current local story and ties it to a local story of the past. Each video vault is about 2 1/2 mintues, and they keep about 20 in archive. If you click on the first one, it will play to the end and start the next one and go continuous through all 20.
If you go now, it starts with the Tropicana going through a redo and then a nice video history of the Trop. There are stories on floods, fires, mob connections, casinos, drive in theaters, restaurants, places then and now, and even Bobby Berosini…the chimp beater. But you can't just go by the subject. Chopper Tom does his homework and each segment is jammed full of interesting fun facts.
Set aside an hour or so to watch the videos and see if that gives you a Vegas fix. The current link is
