I saw Nunsense yesterday. It is a popular off Broadway show that has landed in Las Vegas at the Hilton's Shimmer Cabaret show room. As the name implies, it is about some goofy adventures of nuns.
The basics of the show is that 52 nuns died of food poisoning. They began to bury them. They decided to buy a big screen TV and ran out money after 48 nuns were buried. So they did a fund raiser of song and dance to raise money to bury the other 4 nuns who are currently stored in the freezer with the Hagen Daz ice cream. It's really not that simple as they run into obstacles and have their own issues. The story takes a few twists and turns to keep you from knowing what comes next.
The show is not religious, as it is a comedy. It is not made for Catholics. Anyone can enjoy it, and everyone does. It is a very fun show with a lot of action. It even has audience participation. It is a fairly simple production done well. It has a 3 piece live band. If you happen to see the video trailers on the web, they don't do the show the justice. This show has a lot in common with Forever Plaid. If Forever Plaid had original music instead popular tunes, it would be very much like Nunsense.
This is a 4pm afternoon show, that is dark on Tuesdays. The best performances are on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday when the vivacious Kelly Clinton stars as Sister Amnesia. The show is pretty clean and you should be able to take your parents or mature children. Tickets start at $39, and discounts are available at the outlets. Nevada residents can purchase tickets for $19 plus applicable fees.
