When I seen this on Facebook, I didn't notice the way it was published.
I thought you ment they where charging an extra fee for a smoking room.
Which would make sense in a way, because of keeping the room clean, burn marks and holes will happen in a smoking room.
Charging for a Non-smoking room, seems to be a slap in the face to non smokers.
Oh well MGM has never really been customer friendly IMHO

It was my understanding that this particular fee was dropped almost immediately after it started.

OTOH, MGM Resorts Intl still has their power screwdriver in their hands. I understand that you can still pay in advance for issues such as early check in or late check out, and some of their properties charge extra to specify whether you want a King, Queen, or twin beds.
