Just read a short little artical in the USA today, about a start up airline called LV air.
The premiss is that they are hoping to get the casinos to purchase seats on the airline for the high rollers. They are hoping to be a division of an already existing airline and would feature a Las vegas vibe & cater to the higher roller. A segment that has been ignored by the current state of affairs on the airline industry at the current time.
Keep in mind this still needs a bunch of approvals from various agencys.

Didn't Harrahs try something like this with National airlines?

I can visualize an airline selling some cheap first class seats to a resort. I can't quite picture the casinos having enough high rollers across the country to justify another airline operating on a regular basis.

I know some airlines used to operate a charter flight to Las Vegas a couple of times per week. It was all set up by travel agencies and was on the cheap as opposed to a high roller operation with a Las Vegas vibe.

I see an existing airline spinning off a upscale division as highly unlikely because it requires a lot of money. First of all, the airline would need tons of money to do their end, the casinos would need a lot of money to subsidize the operation, and there would have to be a regular pool of potential customers with high roller status willing to fly to Vegas on their schedule.

I wish them luck. I think it would be a positive economic sign.
