Things have changed a little since the 2008-2009 days. There is very little consistency to shows. With the exception of the very top shows, change is constant. I used to review almost every show I saw. I still see about 3 shows per week, but they keep changing. They change locations, they change programs, they cut back staff, and sometimes they just disappear.
For instance, I saw Penn and Teller this week. They only performed ONE trick that I have seen them do in the 3 other times I saw them.
Sandy Hackett's Rat Pack will be opening at the Hilton in a couple of weeks. That will be the 4th venue in less than 4 years. The show and number of musicians has changed as their stage changes. I'm interested in seeing what they do in the Shimmer Cabaret.
Rick Thomas and his tiger show has moved a few times in the last few years. And the show changes as they change venues. It has really cut back.
Matsuri left town without notice.
Even the Comedy Clubs are moving around and changing programs. I saw Kato Kaelin last week and he is a great comedian, but while he was the star, he was also like an emcee, doing 3 long sets with other comedians inbetween.
I kinda don't have a problem with this. It's hard to keep up with what's playing where and if it's as good as it was. OTOH, it's almost never the same old thing over and over.
The really big shows like Jersey Boys, Cirque, Lion King, Phantom, or Jubilee are all still predictable.
Seating at the V theater is still tight and uncomfortable.
Most websites that I have seen with show info also sell tickets, so their reviews are very biased. For instance, I use bestofvegas.com to buy tickets from time to time, but I know what to see before I read their descriptions.
Have you looked at Goldstar? It is a discount online ticket vendor. They do allow consumer reviews.
