   Tahoe ???
   Tahoe ???
Looks like Tahoe is in my future. Not sure what hotel yet, Harrahs is picking up the flights and transportation and hotel. But the buggers didn't say if it was Harrahs or Harveys? If given a choice, which should I ask for????

I haven't been inside a room in either hotel in years, but was in each casino a couple months ago. I'd choose Harrah's just because Harvey's casino was too dark and low-rent for my taste. And for many years Harrah's has had better restaurants, although I didn't eat there this time.

As one who remembers the glory days of South Lake Tahoe casino gambling, things have slipped a bit. I wonder if the zillion Indian casinos in California haven't cut into business.

The Hyatt at Incline Village still offers a higher end hotel and small casino, but it's far too quiet for anyone who thrives in Vegas. In any case, the lake and scenery are always beautiful.

Lz, thanks for the input!
I think things have slipped in general in the casino industry! AC, Tahoe, Reno and yes even Las Vegas.
I remember Harveys, before Harrahs, and it was always top notch, last year, we visited the casinos and it looks not so top notch! That is why I posted this question. As for the casinos, it really doesn't matter to me. With the tunnel, access to both is easy. The room however is important to my wife. I just need safe and clean, she likes the extras. Can't remember the last time I used a jetted tub, LOL

We stayed at Harrah's last Fall and what I liked about our room was that it had two bathrooms!! Very convenient...................

I guess we know we are getting older when we get excited about twin bathrooms, and not jetted tubs! LOL Heck on my last trip to vegas, just one bathroom that was clean and working would have been a treat for us! LOL

I'm really looking forward to Tahoe in December. Hmmmm, should I take my skies?

Tahoe is looming closer, and we still have no idea of which property we are staying at. I guess they (harrahs) will tell us when we arrive. This is a nice trip for us, no rental car, no planning, just show up at the airport on time and harrahs takes it from there!

Don't have much turn around time between now and Tahoe, we still have no tickets or know which hotel we will be staying in!

Have a great trip and if time allows make a point to visit Thunderbird Lodge up in the Incline Village vicinity.

It's not a cheap tour by any means but it is interesting.

Thanks Will, we won't have a car this trip, at least not for the whole trip. Last time we rented one for just the day, might do the same again to get away from the machines for a break!

FOUR TO FIVE YEARS AGo we stayed at Harrah's and had a very nice dinner at the restaurant at the top ,

Nice bar, nice view and the meal was very good also.

I also want to recommened the gondola lift to the mountain top which is located less than 100 yards on the California side. You can get off the gondola mid way before you reach the top to see some pretty spectacular lale and mountain views and then get back on and ride all the way to the top and take a stroll before a return trip to a more decent level.

When we were there we had a decent lunch at one of Wolfgang Puck's fast food counters after our return trip to the basin floor. It's right there in the shopping/dining complex.

The gondola originates and terminates near a very spectacular ski type, time share condo, but you can pick one up at half the price if inquire at the Real Estate Office across the street. (If they are still in business.)

Have a good time and spend lots of money.

They do need your business.
