   Our trip is booked!
   Our trip is booked!
We did it. Our trip is booked. A few months ago I got on and asked you guys some questions about the Total Rewards program and how the comp points worked. Thank you all for your help.

Our trip is booked for Feb 29th thru March 7th. We are staying at the Flamingo (is that good or bad?). We picked the Flamingo basically because it was the only one that comped our entire stay. The room looked nice from the pictures. Our last trip we didn't get there so this is a new experience completely!

One round trip plane ticket is paid through our Wyndham vacation points. So for the whole trip we really pay only one airfare and gambling money.

One question about the tier points. Is it a year from the time we signed up or January to January? Joe is almost to the next level. And we did all our Christmas shopping through the rewards marketplace and earned comp points that way too.

Thanks again for all the info from the past questions and thank you in advance for questions I haven't asked yet....hehe.

Although I haven't stayed there in quite a few years, the Flamingo is a nice hotel. I think all the rooms have been redone over the past several years. The pool area is great. The location of the hotel is excellent. The casino is nice. Having your entire stay comped is a great thing - I think you'll be pleased with your choice!

I'm not sure about the tier points. I think others on this board will give you a definitive answer.

I stayed at the Flamingo a couple of years ago and I loved the room! Sitting on the settee, looking across Las Vegas Blvd. to Caesar's Palace. Beautiful! I have Worldmark/Wyndham and just stayed at the resort on Las Vegas Blvd. It's pretty nice. And I stayed at Spencer Street. More convenient than the So, Blvd. one.

I'm no longer a Strip Hotel fan but I gotta admit that the Strip hotels are ideal for LV visitors.

And the Flamingo is situated in an ideal location and just a short walk to Bill's on the southern corner and The Palazzo on the northern corner with numerous casinos in between

And just across the street is Caesars and the Mirage and TI, so hopping around via taxicab won't be necessary. Just use your feet and walk in either direction and within a few minutes ..... you're there!

But here are some suggestions that may require some additional effort and considertation.

A visit to each of the major Strip hotels would be a worthwhile experience but would require some additional walking.

Suggestions:

MGM - Visit the Lion Habitat
City Center - Visit the Aria Hotel Casino, the way over-priced shopping plaza, and the Cosmopolitan where you can search for the secret pizza place and have a martini or two inside a giant chanedleier.
Bellagio - Visit the Atrium and enjoy the well designed casino.
Caesars - Visit the Forum Shoppes.
The Venetian - Walk through the shopping center that is designed after well known European structures of which I know nothing about.
The Wynn / The Encore - The best that LV has to offer. Arrive after sunset and visit the Lake of Dreams and see the audiodynamic presentation from the outdoor bar area one level directly above the lake. And stay to see the giant green frog sing "It's a Wonderful World".

And visit the nearby local casinos if you want to get more bang for your gambling dollar.

And I'll suggest a few .....

The Orleans .. It's a mile or so west of the Strip on Tropicans but you can catch the shuttle that reuns from Bill's and enjoy the 5 minute ride to The Orleans where most tourists fail to tread. Plan a dinner at Canal Street within the casino and I guarantee you'll want to return. And when you're ready ... catch that shuttle back to Bill's and walk the hundred or so yards back to the Flamingo. (Make sure you check the shuttle departure times.)

Table minimums are $5.

And the Orleans has a first class movie theater with about 12 screens so you might want to relax one evening and catch the latest movie.

The Palms .. Also about one mile west of the Strip but located on Flamingo. I always seem to win while playing the slots here. Table minimums are $10 except on slow nights when they sometimes go down to $5

The Palms also has a very nice movie theater, but no direct shuttle runs to nor from the Strip.

And don't forget at least one night-time visit to Fremont Street and a HooverDamn visit to see the new bridge that can only be seen effectively while standing on the damn. (A very spectacular sight.)

BUT ... I bet ya that you'll find seven days in one Strip Hotel... three days too many.
In the good old days they hotels limited a visitor's stay to three days max ... and there was seldom any objection.

Have a great trip ...

Enjoy your stay.

In regards to Tier points they are calendar year based. So, new points start on 1/1/12. Reward credits do not expire as long as you earn credits every six month's.

Remember to see some shows while you are in town. The tickets4tonight booths are all over the strip and offer some great discounts on tickets. You can view a lot of show information on this board.

Regarding shows .... other than the big and expensive Strip street acts which you are most likely already aware of ,,,

The Gold Coast has a new magic show each evening at 7 and an additional 5 PM show on Saturdays and it's only $14.95 plus 'convenience fees' (????).

So don't expect a David Copperfield type production but the magicians are pretty well known here in LV and perform some pretty interesting feats of magic with NO lions, nor tigers, nor bears .... but maybe a couple of well trained pigeons.

They say that the show will change monthly , but this month the prestidigitators appear to be Losander (of world wide levitation fame) and Adam Flowers who is very funny while performing amazing things.

Showroom doors open 1 hour prior to show time for free magic preshow.

And that's just one of many others that will make your wallet happy and keep a smile on your face.

And for a few minutes after, you'll be saying, "How did he do that anyway?".

Nothing wrong with the Flamingo at all! It's were I really got the bug for Vegas!
Tier points are year to year, Jan 1st to dec 31. However your current tier will be held until March 31. Before they knock you back down to a different card level. You know if your close to diamond, I say go for it! Chester PA, Harrahs is close and nice. It's about a 1.25 hr drive for us.
I like the way you work the points!
Not sure what you play, but if you play video poker, the Garden bar at the Flamingo is one of our favorites, to this day. My buddy Lynn works at the lobby bar, tell'm Lee sent ya and says Hi!
Be warned, the margaritaville casino attached to the Flamingo has horrible pays on the machines and bad blackjack table rules. It is kinda cute to walk through though! I recommend the place for early morning breakfast, 6ish, you can watch the LV strip come alive in the morning from the second or third floor tables. Morning bloodys are nice here too!
Are you renting a car? If so, floor 3 is the desired floor,
I use to have connections at the front desk, but both people have moved on, so I have no tricks to safe on getting a free upgrade. The $20 trick used to work here. Long time ago.
Carlos & charlies, should be open by your travel time, if you go, a report back please would be helpful, thanks
