In June the stip length is going to seem extremely long in 100+ degree heat. I am guessing your asking because of walking the whole strip. Yes it can be done, we used to do in in our younger days. I'm 40+ and I ain't walking it NO MORE! LOL
As for exact lengh, it depends on where you think the strip officially begins & ends.
At Circus Circus your at the lower end of the strip, and have a nice location if your traveling with kids. They have an indoor water park w/rides. Across the street and down a little is Wet & Wild, a favorite water ride attraction. Oh, and I beleive Bungee jumping is also offered nearby too.

Circus Circus itself has circus acts & midway games for the little ones. However, if your traveling with adults, you'll find the place over run with little rug rats. While they arn't allowed to gamble, they are allowed to walk through the casino, and they will be around constantly. Watch out for strollers and your ankles! Buffet food is offered very cheaply, however, I think it probably rates as one of the worst in LV. I'm not a buffet person, so, I'm just repeting what others have stated recently. The Steakhouse and coffee shop I beleive are decent options for food.
Slots-o-fun next door is owned by Circus Circus, and has some of the better gambling options, however, be warned, it attracts a younger (college) crowd, and sometimes gets a bit rowdy.
I'd like a little more information on the type of information your looking for. I'm sure I could offer more detailed information on any questions you might have.

If you are adults traveling without children then Circus Circus may not be the best choice. If you just want a place to sleep and plan on doing a lot of sightseeing then it will be ok. The steakhouse is a great restaurant, but that is the only place I would eat at in Circus Circus. Usually people chose Circus Circus because it is inexpensive. Do you still have a chance to select a different hotel without a payment penalty?
Tell us a little about the things that interest you and you will get lots of suggestions. And read this bb every day to learn about las vegas and all the things to see and do and places to eat.

Thanks Lee for the info, You were right we do intent to walk the strip. And there is just the two of us no kids,we have read that from the stratosphere to Freemans street is a bit iffy, is this true ?
We will be staying in LV for 1 week so we would like to see as much as we can, we are getting very excited now as it is only 1 month away. I might even drag my other half into one of those chapels
We would like to go on a few helicopter trips would it be advisable to book up first, or can you just walk in and do it ?
Sorry if I have go one a bit, but we are trying to get enough info before we fly.
Many Thanks Het

Het,

Hi!

Please check the "Talk Vegas After Hours" forum for some good information for first-time visitors to Las Vegas. I've refreshed a former topic hoping it will help.

I have stayed at Circus, Circus and while it is not my favorite it is okay. You won't be there much anyway if you are anything like most people who travel from casino to casino to see everything. I wouldn't walk to downtown from there. We took a free shuttle to Sam's town and then from there to downtown. If you go early enough you can come back the same way. Do not take the city bus - it is terrible!!!! I have walked the strip from there but it is long and hot but you can catch all the trams to help you along the way. There is also the strip shuttle but it is slow and crowded but will get you there and save your feet.

Have a great time!

Het--hard to plan a day in vegas not knowing your likes and dislikes but a few tips--it stays hot all day and nite--if you are walking, walk to the furthest point and then drift back to home base--hit the homepage and start going from casino to casino to gather info many of the web sites will have maps you can print--walking is usually faster than cabbing on the strip-hydrate,beer is very important!--eat sit down meals at off hours, there will be lines everywhere or go until you drop and cab back.you will have a ball!!

Het,
I wouldn't walk down any further then Sahara, you can walk up the strip as far as you like, but after Mandalay Bay, there isn't much to see. Make use of the trams, and monorail, to give your feet a rest from time to time. Circus circus isn't the best place to stay, but for a first trip, your not going to be spending a lot of time in your own hotel anyway. My guess is 6 hrs of sleep and your out the door again anyway! <S>
A quick idea of what I think is worth seeing on a first time trip in LV of the strip
Sahara, Nascar cafe, a lot of race car stuff,
roller coaster, and cheap blackjack.
Circus Circus, lots of pink stuff <VBG>
Riveria, old old vegas, cheap eats in nickle town for a quick bite, best comedy club IMHO.
Stardust, jumping water outside the place is cute, decent coffee shop.
Frontier, nothing comes to mind
Venetian, lovely place, Wax Musseam, gondola rides in the mall
Treasure Island, Pirate battle outside.
Mirage, Volcano erupts at night.
Harrah's, second best comedy club IMHO, nice front bar for dancing & music in the evenings.
Imperial Palace, car museam.
Flamingo, pool area is lovely, penguines on display at pool area too.
Caesars Palace, the mall is nice and you should look around inside the casino. This was the first place with class on the strip.
Barbary Coast, great people watching place, lately decent lounge acts
Bally's, new sign.
Bellagio, recent class of hotel casino's. Check out the atrium and the lobby chandlier flowers in the ceiling. Fountain display out front at night is well set to music.
Paris, everything french, the eifle tower has a nice view.
Aladdin, check out the flowers that light up to certin songs in the casino (back wall). lounge acts another great place to listen and enjoy a cocktail (second floor)
Boardwalk....keep walking
Monte Carlo, nothing really wonderful, but the place should still be checked out. The brew pub is nice, but loud.
NY NY, very well themed hotel, great roller coaster too. Dueling pianos in the evening is a good bet too.
MGM, lion habitat, monorail station.
Tropicana, Las Vegas chip museam.
Excaliber, like Circus Circus, but with a knight theme.
Luxor, nothing comes to mind except the big light coming out of the top of the hotel
Mandalay Bay, some nice restaurants, neat pool area.
