   what time ..
   what time ..
The decision has been made, we are going back to Vegas in June.
My question is ..

I am in the US for three weeks in June. From 8 until 30 june , which time is the best to go to Vegas. We wanted to stay for 5 days there.

Are their any days to avoid Vegas during this time??

I'm not sure what you are looking for in a best time. In general, the kids will be out of school so you can expect larger than normal child tourists. The weather will be hot the entire time, being a little hotter later in the month. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are usually the best days for cheaper hotel rates. Airports and flights are more crowded on weekends. If you want to check out convention crowds you can visit Las Vegas Links from the TalkVegas Homepage and find the link for Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Large conventions can affect car and room rates as well as availability.

If I had my choice of when to go, purely on time of the year, I'd go earlier rather then later in the month. It only gets hotter the more into summer you get. Also the closer you get the our 4th of July weekend the worse the crowds will normally be & more children all around.
Pick your hotel wisely! Ones that are kid friendly will be crawling with the little buggers.
Also do to the chance of triple digit temps, you may want to stay close to your favorite casinos or huants, so it's not such a long walk in the hot days sun. From your past report, you sound very fit, but you still don't want to be all perspired and feeling generally grimey when you reach your destination. IMHO

My mother and I always go to Vegas during the second week of June. We stay in Vegas for two nights, then go up to St George Utah to stay at a spa for five days, then back to Vegas for three more nights. June is a wonderful time to be in Vegas. I love the heat, and there is no humidity like here on the East Coast. The pools in town are amazing during that time. Check out the pool at Mandalay Bay. Very nice. I also hear the Hard Rock has a nice pool area. I wouldn't miss Vegas in June for anything! cool

Well I did it, just bought two tickets Amsterdam-Washington-Las Vegas, I leave on the 14 th of june and return to Amsterdam on the 25th of june.

I was thinking that I stay the first night in Vegas, pick up a car and make a drive through Nevad(Death Valley/Lake Tahoe/Reno/Ely/Las Vegas)

And be at least the last three or four days in Las Vegas.
That sound like a plan to me.

Now I just have to wait for some good room deals.

Good for you, Jan. Looks like the bug has bitten you too! How many hours does it take you to get to Vegas from Amsterdam? I always feel sorry for the people on the East Coast with their 5-7 hour flights. I can't imagine what your time must be.

Jan, may I suggest a circle route for your driving? From Death Valley, I would drive up to Lake Tahoe via Highway 395, with a stop at Yosemite National Park along the way. This is beautiful mountain country, which would give you a different "look" than the drive back to Las Vegas from Reno, which would be almost entirely desert driving.

Sorry I did not respond any sooner, but I was on a bus.trip and could not answer you people.

First of all the trip in total to Vegas for me is like this.
14 juni get in the car at 9.00 am for a two hour drive to the airport, check in and shop a bit after about two hours we have to check in and leave.Plane leaves at 1.35pm.
I arrive at Washington(Dulles at 3.45 pm)+6 hours this makes a flight time of 8 hours and 10 minutes.

We have to change planes and leave again 5.15 pm.
Arrive in Vegas at 7.20 pm + 3 hours this makes a flight time of 5 hours and 5 minutes.

Total travel time +/- 19 hours and 20 minutes.

Then about the round trip.

First night booked at the Howard Johnson Airport because they have a compl.shuttle.
We leave the next day already(after picking up my intermediate 2 doors at Alamo) through death Valley and no Yos.Park.Did it already in a previous trip.We goto the Peppermill in Reno for three days.(explore a bit Lake Tahoe)

Then we leave and take the loniest highway route and find a motel in Ely.

Next day we take the route to Vegas and stay the last five nights in Vegas.
Only the last night we stay again in the Howard Johson because we have to leave at 8.15 am , so we bring the car back the night before, and take the comp.shuttle at 5.30am for checking in.

The four nights I wait for a good offer to come in the E-mail(another reblast thingy would be nice from the Venetian :&gt wink )

So thats my pre trip report.
