Luxor, with a pyramid and replicas of the Sphinx and Kig Tut's tomb, and even a Nile River recreation opened on this date in 1993. With the 1997 expansion, the number of rooms rose to 4,476 and the Nile River is history.

Bellagio Opens (by JMT)
On this date in 1998, shortly after 11:00pm, Bellagio, the $1.6 Billion (with a B) resort, opened to the public. The fireworks show to kick off the opening was cancelled, but who would know or care? Any casino can have a fireworks show, even the Stratosphere. A specially choreographed water show was enough to drive the crowd crazy.
