On this date in 1946, Dell Webb Construction Company began construction on Bugsy Siegel's project, the Flamingo. The Flamingo was what the dealers in Mexico casinos called Virginia Hill when her and Bugsy would gamble there. Her long red hair and long legs reminded them of Flamingos when she would dance.
