Desert Inn Closes (by JMT)
At 2am on this date in 2001, a man from Illinois 7'd out (going for an 8) on the DI crap table, losing $800. This would be the last gambling transaction at the Desert Inn Casino. 12 hours later, the hotel portion of the property shut down. Bought out by Steve Wynn, this property would become the Wynn and Encore.
