National Airlines Shuts Down (by JMT)
After only 41 months of service, National Airlines, based in Las Vegas filed for bankruptcy. They ceased all operations on this date in 2002. The $15 million investment by Harrah's and Rio to attract east coast visitors was not enough to keep the airline flying.
